I think it's time to get paid for time wasted.
I'm probably just thinking about this because I'm over fifty now and time has become a little more valuable.
But really, if you decided what you're worth per hour and then you keep track of how much of your time has been wasted, you will see that not only is a lot of your valuable time not-so-valuable to others, but that you could have quite a nice little second (or first) income from this kind of thing, with very little effort and marginal annoyance - less annoyance than before because let's face it, you're now getting paid to allow your time to be wasted.
Where did this come from? The Book Store.
Yes, one of those city stores that is not a chain and doesn't really bother with things like a catchy name or heat. I went in there yesterday specifically to buy cheap novels to enjoy because I haven't been reading enough novels and they are not cheap at the bookstores with the nice names and customer comforts - like chairs. I spent a long time looking through the books, trying to find 4 of them since there was a 4 for $20 sale going on. I spent, let's say a good 30-40 minutes in there. When I went to pay for the books, I saw a sign (hand written of course) that read CASH ONLY. I had five dollars cash. It was -10 degrees (which is about 10 degrees F) and I had no idea where the nearest cash machine was and also I am a quitter so I just left. Thirty minutes of my life I won't get back.
And nothing to show for it.
No wonder Amazon does so well.
As my brother-in-law says, "Time you enjoy wasting is not wasted time."
